quotable...

Reading the book The Irresistible Revolution: Living as An Ordinary Radical by Shane Claiborne has been a very good experience. For some time, some friends and I have been talking about social ministry and what it should/could look like in today's local church. Claiborne's book is helping to further shape what it could be, and what the world would be like if the church was serious about God's call to not only preach the gospel to all people of all races in all lands AND to care for the alien, the widow, the outcast and the fatherless. It's a far different world from the one in which we find ourselves.

Another world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing. --Indian activist and author Arundhati Roy. Quoted from The Irresistible Revolution.

I loved this book. Social justice has become an important issue to me. I believe that studying the Bible and participating God's kingdom work go hand-in-hand, that, in fact, one doesn't make sense without the other.
Which is why I wrote a Bible study that uses both, because serving God connects us to God's story. We can't truly learn on our butts alone.
