pointless (songs) 1.0...

"pointless" is going to be a recurring segment here on disciples' refuge. It will range from (songs) to (movies) to whatever else I come across and think: Why in the world was this written, produced, distributed, made etc. The vast majority will be songs (many from the 80's and 90's!) that I hear on my internet radio player while working. Although, Christian T-Shirts and gift items are not out of bounds! I hope it will be entertaining if not thought-provoking.

The first installment is a song by KLF and Tammy Wynette from the 90's, popularly known as Mu Mu Land. In my humble opinion, it is one of the stupidest songs that has ever been written (granted the Barney song is a close second).

JUSTIFIED AND ANCIENT

[CHORUS]
All bound for Mu Mu Land
All bound for Mu Mu Land (hey) (hey hey)
All bound for Mu Mu Land (justified!)

They're Justified, and they're Ancient,
And they like to roam the land.
They're Justified, and they're Ancient,
I hope you understand. (to the bridge, to the bridge, to the bridge now)

They called me up in Tennessee
They said "Tammy, stand by the JAMs"
But if you don't like what they're going to do,
You better not stop them 'cause they're coming through

[CHORUS]

They're Justified, and they're Ancient,
And they drive an ice cream van.
They're Justified and they're Ancient,
With still no master plan. (to the bridge, to the bridge, to the bridge now)

The last train left an hour ago,
They were singing "All aboard"
All bound for Mu Mu Land,
Then someone starting screaming
"Turn up the Strobe"

I think I have to agree with you on this....

I'm confused.
Do we all have to where moo-moos in the new earth?
What are JAMS, why is Tammy standing by them, and what does it mean that they're coming through? Are they like the Kool-Aid guy?
Do we all get to drive ice cream vans? I like ice cream vans. Especially Mr. Softee.

Good point. At first, I thought they wanted Tammy to stand by the Jams, you know, the long shorts or short pants that were popular back in middle school (early 90's for those who are older or younger).

I think Ice Cream vans is some kind of veiled reference to drugs or sex. Isn't all secular music about those two things?

I always liked the ice cream that was in a funnel and had a gumball at the bottom. It was the treat that just kept on going. I think it was called the Energizer Ice Cream or something.
